  • Participants will receive a Certificate of participation. Those who enter by video submission will receive an E-certificate.

ATTIRE

  1. Participants are required to be neatly and appropriately dressed for all sessions of the competition.

ELIGIBILITY

  1. Open to participants of all Nationalities.

  2. First-prize winners in the Children, Junior, Intermediate, and Open categories and Top-prize winners in the Rockschool category from the previous year are ineligible to re-enter the same category this year.

REGISTRATION

  1. Registration Form is available at www.rs-event.sg
  2. A completed entry form consists of the following, and registration fee paid is not refundable.

  3. Live or Video Submission:
    Video entries for the qualifying round must be uploaded by 10 August 2025, Sunday. Backing tracks (drumless track) must also be submitted by 31 July 2025, Thursday.
    Only MP3 and WAV files will be accepted.
  4. Participants are responsible for securing any necessary music copyrights; the Committee disclaims liability for infringements.
  5. Schedules will be emailed by 25 July 2025, Friday. In the event that a participant is unable to perform at the qualifying round, the participant will be disqualified. Registration fees will be forfeited and not refundable.
  6. Participants are required to report at the respective venue 20 minutes prior to their allocated time. The organizer reserves the right to disqualify participants who arrive later than the scheduled time.
  7. On the day of competition, participants are to adhere to the order of performance which will be decided by the organizing committee. No adjustment to the competition schedule will be made should the participant fail to turn up at the stipulated timing due to personal reasons.
  8. Your registration form must be completed and any changes after the registration deadline may be declined by the organizing committee. In situations where changes are accepted, there will be an administrative fee of $20.

PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS

  1. Modifying, removing, or replacing any drum-set components is prohibited.
  2. A maximum of two additional pieces of gear or equipment
    are permitted; a personal drum pedal counts as one item.
    Participants may make minor positional adjustments to the organizer’s acoustic drum set as needed.
  3. All intended changes must be declared at registration. Any unreported modifications or additions will not be permitted, and the Organizer reserves the right to reject unauthorized adjustments.
  4. These rules are implemented to ensure a fair playing field for all contestants.

JUDGING CRITERIA

Participants will be assessed on: Technical Mastery & Virtuosity, Accuracy & Synchronization, Musical Expression & Dynamics, Creativity & Innovation.

TIMING AND EVALUATION

Performance timing begins with the first audible note of the backing track or the contestant’s solo entry; only the portion performed within the category’s prescribed duration will be evaluated, and any overrun will be excluded from adjudication.

CATEGORY CANCELLATION

The organizer reserves the right to cancel any competition categories due to any unforeseen circumstances. In the event of cancellation by the organizer, the registration fees will be fully refunded.

RECORDING & PUBLICITY

Audio‑video recording and photography will occur throughout the event. Any such activity must not disrupt the competition; the Organizer may suspend it if necessary. By competing, participants grant permission to use all recordings
and images for future publicity.

DATA PROTECTION & PUBLICITY CONSENT

Personal data collected will be used solely for competition administration. Winners agree to the use of their name and likeness in all promotional materials.

DISPUTES AND ACCEPTANCE

In all cases of dispute, the Organizer’s decision is final. By entering, participants agree to abide fully by these Rules & Regulations.

VIDEO SUBMISSION

  1. Key Dates

    Live Qualifying Rounds: 3, 8 – 10 August 2025

    Schedule Notification: 25 July 2025, Friday
    Video Submission Deadline: 10 August 2025, Sunday (for anyone unable to perform live)

    If you are unable to perform live at your scheduled time, please submit a video recording of your performance by the deadline above.

    Recording Requirements

    1. Your performance must be recorded in a single, continuous shot without stopping or pausing between pieces (for categories that require more than one repertoire).

    • Ensure the video remains stable, and avoid zooming in or out during the recording.
    • No video editing is allowed. The recording should closely resemble a live audition.

         2. Your face must be clearly visible in the video for identity verification.

    • The full drum kit must be shown, including snare, bass drum, toms,  cymbals, pedals, and the drummer in a seated position. 
    • A side-on camera angle, slightly elevated, often provides the best view of both hands and feet.

          3. The video should be recorded in at least 720p (HD) resolution although 1080p (Full HD) is preferred for better clarity and evaluation.

    • Make sure to use a drumless backing track during your performance.

Submission Instructions

Upload your video to a permanent file-sharing platform such as YouTube (unlisted), Google Drive (with open access), Dropbox, or Tudou. Do not use temporary sharing platforms like WeTransfer, as files expire after a period.

  • Submit your video link through the form provided here.
  • Ensure that your video’s privacy settings allow “anyone with the link” to view.
  • Only video recordings are accepted—audio-only files will not be considered.
  • Ensure your submission adheres to all guidelines to avoid disqualification.

BACKING TRACK SUBMISSION

If you will be using a backing track for your live performance at the Qualifying Round, please submit it by 31 July 2025, Thursday through the designated form here.

For participants in the Rockschool Category, it is compulsory for you to submit your own version of the backing track to ensure accurate playback during your performance.

You do not need to submit a backing track if:

  1. You are submitting a video recording for the Qualifying Round instead of performing live.
  2. Your live performance does not require a backing track.

IMPORTANT NOTES:

  • The organizing committee will not assist to set up or pack up participants’ personal equipment. A participant may enlist the help of up to 2 assistants (e.g. teacher/parent) to set up and pack up the equipment on stage.
  • All intended changes must be declared at registration. Any unreported modifications or additions will not be permitted, and the organizer reserves the right to reject unauthorized adjustments.
  • Changes after the registration deadline of 18 July 2025 may be declined by the organising committee. In situations where changes are accepted, there will be an administrative fee of $20.

Permissible personal equipment:

A maximum of two additional pieces of gear or equipment are permitted; a personal drum pedal counts as one item.
