This August, get ready to be inspired. One of the brightest stars in classical music today, Niu Niu (Zhang Shengliang)<\/strong>, makes his Singapore debut recital<\/strong> with a dazzling evening of piano brilliance. As part of the European Sound Piano Concert 2025<\/em> series, this special performance\u2014titled “To Fate with Hope \u5929\u4ece\u4eba\u613f”<\/strong>\u2014takes place on 31 August 2025<\/strong> at Victoria Concert Hall<\/strong>, featuring a rich, emotionally charged program performed on the magnificent C. Bechstein D282<\/strong> concert grand.<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

A musical force since childhood, Niu Niu was born into a musical family in Xiamen in 1997 and began piano lessons at just three. By six, he was already performing full recitals. At nine, he became the youngest artist ever signed to EMI Classics, releasing Niu Niu Plays Mozart<\/em> to international acclaim. That same year, he made his London debut at the Royal Festival Hall under the mentorship of Liszt specialist Leslie Howard\u2014an unforgettable performance attended by the then Prince of Wales. At only 12, he recorded and released Chopin\u2019s complete 24 \u00c9tudes, a monumental achievement at any age.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Since then, Niu Niu\u2019s career has continued to flourish. A Juilliard graduate and Decca Classics recording artist, he\u2019s performed with major orchestras worldwide and appeared at high-profile events like the BRICS Summit and the Osaka-Kansai Expo. His collaborations include M\u00e9lancolie<\/em>, a 2023 album with flutist Cocomi, daughter of Japanese superstar Takuya Kimura. His most recent release\u2014a live recording of Tchaikovsky\u2019s Piano Concerto No. 1 with Jaap van Zweden and the Hong Kong Philharmonic\u2014has been widely praised for its passion and precision.<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

For his Singapore recital, Niu Niu presents a powerful program that opens with the lyrical sparkle of Mendelssohn\u2019s Rondo Capriccioso<\/em>, journeys through the intimate poetry of Brahms\u2019 Intermezzo Op. 118 No. 2<\/em>, and culminates in the sweeping drama of Liszt\u2019s Sonata in B minor<\/em>. The evening also features Liszt\u2019s transcription of Beethoven\u2019s Symphony No. 5<\/em>\u2014a tour de force of pianistic imagination and endurance.<\/h4>\n\n\n\n
